Fee: $50/seminar, 10 seminars to be scheduled for 2009
Student Teachers are required to register for a weekly class at regular class price
and required to have their own professional liability insurance, suggestions offered
in class.
Arrangements for payment may be made personally with Melinda. Assisting in classes is required
for practical apprenticing and practice teaching experience. Register as usual in your home class
each session at $64 per 8 weeks and assist in the classes agreed upon. Privates with Melinda may
also be scheduled at $50/hour. As a Student Teacher, you will be asked to cover for Melinda from
time to time for which you will receive credit for one class. Upon completion of the Teacher
Training & Certification Program, you will be paid $20 per class.
Each student is responsible for the purchase of course materials. The Anatomy Coloring Book by
Kapit & Elson, colored pencils or crayolas needed for coloring. Yoga The Iyengar Way, by
Silva, Mira and Shyam Mehta; Light on Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar. Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff.
Anatomy worksheets will be provided as needed at no extra cost.
Purpose & Intent of the Course: To provide a basic foundation in teaching the yoga asanas and
pranayama, understanding of how the body moves in basic asanas and the body mechanics of
everyday living, cautions and safe procedures for teaching people with back problems and
other joint dysfunction, the stress management applications of yoga in life and basic yoga
philosophy and psychology.
